September brings all of the energy of the new program year. On September 7, the congregation of Trinity Church will celebrate God's goodness by "rallying" into another new year. In the Spring parities marked our 100th anniversary of being a congregation focused upon bold mission on the westside. Now we get to begin another 100 years of joining God's mission by returning to the basics-- our
New Beginnings, if you will.
a. Our Adult Sunday School will revolve around scripture texts for the coming Sunday. In this way, a whole congregation can dive deeper and help one-another discern God's movement in our lives.
b. The Board of Elders will be processing fresh ideas on how to strengthen our commitment to congregational care. Bold mission out into the world is fueled by strong care and support from within the body of Christ. Prayer; meals; visitation; love; counseling; support; encouragement; shoulders to cry on; and opportunities to laugh and celebrate are all part of being a congregation.
c. A Task Force has been convened by the Elders and will listen to how the Holy Spirit is directing us to put energy and resources around developing our commitments to discipleship. Growing faithful followers of Jesus Christ is a wonderful responsibility and challenge in our ever-changing cultures. A focused question for all brothers and sisters to consider: how are we growing into the truth of our baptism?
d. Meals for Eight is one response from the Congregational Life Team to deepening our community. During September people will be invited to sign up for periodic meals with others in the congregation.
